Mitchell Vice, Democratic Candidate for United States Senate files intent to run for office and issues statement on the heels of Orrin Hatch retirement announcement

January 2, 2018 —Salt Lake City, Utah— Mitchell Vice, Democratic Candidate for United States Senate, filed his intent to gather signatures today in order to secure his spot on a Democratic primary ballot. Vice filed his intent just hours after Utah Senator Orrin Hatch announced that he would retire at the end of 2018.

“While it is appropriate to thank Senator Hatch for his many years of service, it is also appropriate that he has made the wise decision to retire from public service. It’s time for real change in our United States Senate, and that transformation begins with a Senator who cares more about his constituents than about his legacy or chairmanships or large corporate donors,” Vice said in a statement.

“Thomas Jefferson is attributed to having said, “If you want something you have never had, you must be willing to do something you have never done.” If we continue finding comfort with conventionality, we will again have what we’ve always had… no representation.

Although I am a political neophyte, I am not naive. I know the Senate race is MONUMENTAL! I began taking action over a year ago, campaigning, listening and learning. I continue to visit our counties, listening to Utah voters all across our state. Together we are creating the possibility of EVERY AMERICAN THRIVING.”
