Environmental Justice

First, we must acknowledge that climate change/global warming IS REAL. We must act now to move our economy away from finite, dirty energy sources, and toward sustainable, all renewable, clean energy. We no longer have the luxury of enacting half step change incrementally over time.

Environmental protection and economic growth are not mutually exclusive. Even our military plans to diversify our energy array and grid with clean renewable energy so that by 2020, 50% of total energy consumption will come from alternative sources.

This will be a giant boon to both the private and public sector in our state, as well as a necessary response to a global crisis.

Locally, we have been uniquely blessed with an extraordinary home to wander, explore, enjoy and thrive. Our stewardship in keeping Utah beautiful, unpolluted and sustainable is paramount for future generations. Every time I look outside and see the inversion covering the Salt Lake Valley, I know in my heart change must be made. We must act rather than ignore this issue to ensure a healthy and clean planet for our future generations.

As a United States Senator, I will take a stand for becoming #1 in sustainable energy production in the world.

  • 100% renewable energy in 20 years
  • Rebuilding all infrastructure with lead in it immediately through the full weight of the federal government
  • Complete air, water, and land protection and stewardship
